Give And You Will Receive

There is a good reason why “Shark tank,” the show that provides entrepreneurs with opportunities to pitch business  “big wigs” with the hope that they might invest in their small businesses, and in many cases, just their terrific ideas has been a hit on television for nearly 10 years.  “Shark Tank” and along with many other content providers have done a terrific job of stimulating our business endorphins to the extent, that we feel that our entrepreneurial aspirations are attainable.  There is no better place for this “out of body experience” to take place than the Internet, where you can find countless videos and testimonials about ordinary people have become successful entrepreneur or who are striving to do so.

However, the initial feeling of euphoria that many of these “would-be” entrepreneurs feel during the early stages of their businesses can quickly dissipate, to the point that some of these entrepreneurs start thinking about giving up on their dreams “that were so cool just a week ago”.  When I started my journey to build Frankred.com into a successful brand in the men’s clothing space, I also at times, found myself filled with despair, and self doubt, when things that I wanted to happen, didn’t happen exactly when I wanted them to.

Fortunately, for me I know that I am built for this, having built up my confidence and mental toughness, while participating in sports at a high level throughout my life.  Moreover, I have been a Hip Hop artist for a long time, where rejection is the fuel that keeps the car running.

So then, what is the thing that inspires people to stay motivated and in good spirits even when you see signs that the journey to success is going to be difficult.  For me, it’s knowing and witnessing how my business is positively impacting the lives of so many people in my community.  For instance, it’s not unusual for me to make custom shirts for free, for people who transitioning back into society after being incarcerated or for someone who might be going to college where they will need some nice clothes to wear.  In essence, my passion and motivation for success is helping people, and through my Frankred brand, I get a chance to help more people, in ways that I could have never dreamt of.

These are existential moments for me, because I get to positively impact people’s lives firsthand, which is important to me, and it allows me to reflect and appreciate the people in my life, who for no other reason but love helped me when I needed support throughout my journey.  Besides, I wouldn’t be interested in owning a business, without a focus on giving back and community service.  I learned early in my life that doing things for the sole purpose of making money would not make me happy or provide a sense of fulfillment in my life.

However, I very focused on maximizing the financial potential of Frankred.com, because I know that it will help me, impact the lives of more people, which I believe are our greatest investment and our most valuable resource.  To sum up, I will leave with a saying that I wrote 20 years ago when I was starting to realize who I was as a man, and what I would stand for:

“Success and getting Paid is a manifestation of the whole process, if you as an individual don’t do things to a to help other people ma their lives better, as far as I am concerned, you haven’t done nothing”.
